Ingham County Fire Department is also known as the Meridian Fire Department. It would like to be noted that Meridian Charter Township is in Ingham County, Michigan. In 1929 the Department was established as a volunteer department and since has grown into a professional department with 42 full time authorized fire fighters and fire officers. These Firefighters are represented by the IAFF local 1600 serve approximately 40,000 citizens. Services provided include immediate professional fire and rescue response, as well as state of the art Advanced Emergency Medical Service. The department provides three Paramedic staffed ambulances. These run out of three stations providing excellent response time.
As a member of the Metro Lansing Technical Rescue Team, the Meridian Fire Department and provides professional response to rescue incidents involving confined space, trench, water, ice, high angle, and structural collapse. A full range of administrative services are also provided, including fire prevention, code enforcement, plan review, and public fire education. The Training Division keeps fire fighters current on the latest fire fighting and rescue techniques. An Emergency Medical Services Coordinator oversees the provision of Advanced Life Support/Paramedic services and underscores our continuing commitment to provide the very best medical care to our citizens and visitors to our community.
